NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning

Description

This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements including children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare, and communication and professional relationships.

This qualification aims to:

  • Focus on the study of supporting teaching and learning
  • Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
  • Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills

The objectives of this qualification are to:

  • Provide learners with knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment
  • Provide a stepping stone into further learning within the sector

As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, they will need to be working or be ona practical placement during the duration of the taught programme of study, in a learning environment (school or college). CACHE recommends that the learner undertakes 100 hours of placement in a real workenvironment. Simulation is not allowed

What's Included

To achieve the qualification, learners must pass the following mandatory units through a range of internally and externally assessed criteria:

Unit 1: Schools and colleges as organisations
Unit 2: Support health and safety in a learning environment
Unit 3: Understand how to safeguard children and young people
Unit 4: Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Unit 5: Understand how children and young people develop
Unit 6: Support positive behaviour in children and young people
Unit 7: Support children and young people during learning activities
Unit 8: Support English and maths skills
Unit 9: Support the use of ICT in the learning environment
Unit 10: Support assessment for learning
Unit 11: Engage in personal and professional development

Delivery

This is a work-based qualification, aimed to be completed within 4 and 6 months via the below methods:

  • Classroom Teaching and Learning Sessions
  • One to One Sessions with your assessor
  • Observations
  • Independent study and research
  • Paper-based and/or digital resources

It is important that the learner has the language, literacy and numeracy skills necessary to achieve the qualification they are registering for. All the evidence generated by the learner will be assessed against the standards expected of a Level 3 learner for each learning outcome/

Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning
Higher level studies at university

Funding subject to eligibility criteria:

  • Aged 19+
  • Living within GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) postcode
  • Having resided in the UK for more than 3 years, and able to access Public Funds
  • Learners without a full Level 3 qualification OR Learners that hold a full Level 3 qualification or higher and earn below £23,104
  • Must not currently be in receipt of government funding for another qualification
