So, what is Fully Funded Training?

You may remember the old qualification called NVQs? Well it has a new name and it is fully funded apprenticeship Courses. These courses are not just for 16-19 year olds as most people think, the new NVQs (fully funded apprenticeships) are for anyone aged 16-65 years old.

There are a few savvy businesses who would snatch at an offer of fully funded employee training, which promises to progress and develop its employees to be better at what they do. However there are often too many businesses who either misunderstand the fully funded apprenticeships for 16 – 65 year olds or simply do not know about them.

Here we explain what fully funded training is and why your business cannot afford to overlook the opportunities these qualifications present.

The biggest issue businesses face when they discuss fully funded apprenticeships for 16 – 65 year olds is that they are always thinking either, “how much will this cost me?” or “what is the catch?” The answer is actually quite simple for both questions, nothing! Fully funded apprenticeships for 16 – 65 year olds are 100% Government funded and completely free, which means your business receives all the benefits of specialised training without the cost.

These funded courses are specifically aimed at your current employees at the business, as the idea behind the scheme is that your employees receive essential training that will help them to improve their skills. Importantly too, where your business benefits from your employees being higher qualified, more knowledgeable and importantly, more productive than when they first started.

Do you have a vacancy or even a gap within your organisation which could be filled by a young person? We can help by supporting you to recruit and train an apprentice.  Whether you have employed an apprentice before, or are brand new to doing so, we will be with you every step of the way.

Firstly let’s discuss what an apprentice means to an employer

  • An apprentice is a young person who is employed by you – anyone from a sole trader to a multi-national organisation.
  • Their length of employment must be a minimum of 1 year.
  • They are paid a minimum of £3.30 an hour, which is paid by the employer.
  • The employer gives them a contract. We recommend an initial 1 year contract which covers their apprenticeship. And yes, apprentices are entitled to holidays.
  • Recruiting the apprentice at no cost to you!
  • We will speak with you regarding the potential vacancy, the roles and responsibilities and the type of person you feel is best suited to your business.
  • We’ll then advertise the vacancy, sift through the applications and pre-interview on your behalf. This means that we only put forward the right candidates in front of you, saving a great deal of time and effort.
  • You can then put them through your own recruitment procedure and it is your choice on who to take on.

Once a candidate has started with you, we will deliver the full apprenticeship, working with you, your team and the new apprentice to help them be the best they can be.
